Bodily Book Forms

Pubic Art Fund
Brooklyn, NY | 2023

Inspired by Felipe Baeza’s Unruly Forms—a public exhibition of eight paintings installed in bus shelters and street furniture across the United States and Mexico—this series of free workshops in Sunset Park explored the relationship between the body and the book form. Both books and bodies act as vessels for stories, their forms shifting to accommodate what they hold. Facilitated by Booklyn Inc., the sessions offered space for Sunset Park residents, visitors, and the Mixteca community to experiment with collage, pop-up structures, and binding techniques. Each participant developed a one-page book or zine that could be easily photocopied and multiplied, echoing the spirit of Baeza’s widely distributed Public Art Fund commission.

Bodily Book Forms was curated by Gabriela López Dena.
